V.M. Ranjeet, Riya, enter Semis

CLTA, Chandigarh, Thursday, the 1^st December, 2016              In the men’s singles quarters Davis Cupper V.M. Ranjeet defeated Shahbaaz Khan in straight sets. V.M. Ranjeet played high quality tennis and used his experience to close the 1^st set 6-3. In the 2^nd set V.M. Ranjeet maintained his quality of game and closed the 2^nd set also at identical score 6-3. Top seed Dawinder Singh also moved into semi finals. Dalwinder defeated Param Pun in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. 4^th seed Vijay Kannan and 3^rd seed Suraj Prabodh also won from their opponents Jatin Dahiya and Tejas Chaukulkar 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 and 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 in three setter matches respectively.

In the women’s singles quarters top seed Riya Bhatia defeated Sara Yadav in an easy match by conceding only two games 6-0, 6-2. In another match 2^nd seed Sai Samhitha defeated Kavya Sawhney in a one sided match 6-1, 6-2. 3^rd seed Nidhi Chilumul and Aarushi Kakkar also moved into semi finals.

In the women’s doubles top seed Nidhi Chilumula and Moulika Ram will face 2^nd seed Sai Samhitha Chamarthi and Amrita Mukherjee in the finals. Top seed Nidhi and Moulika defeated 4^th seed Yubrani Benerjee and Neeru Rapria in an easy match 6-1, 6-2. In another semi final Sai Samhita and Amrita defeated 3^rd seed Himani Mor and Dakshata Patel by conceding only two games 6-1, 6-1.

In the men’s doubles semi finals 3^rd seed Param Pun and Hardeep Sandhu upset top seed Vilasier Khate and Ranjeet Singh in straight sets 6-2, 6-3. 2^nd seed Armaan Bhatia and Ishaque Eqbal defeated Abhimansu Borthakur and Saurav Sukul 6-1, 6-2.

Men’s and women’s singles semi final matches will be played tomorrow from 10:00 a.m. onwards at Chandigarh Club.
