Prinkle, Shashikant, Naresh, Bhupender storm into Semis

 CLTA, Chandigarh, November 9, 2016                In boys U-16 singles quarter finals Shashikant Rajput of CHART upset 2^nd seed Rhythm Malhotra of Delhi in straight sets. In the 1^st set Shashikant won 6-3. In the 2^nd set Shashikant faced some resistance from his opponent. In the 5^th game Shashikant broke opponent’s serve and finally closed set and match 7-5. In another match Naresh Badgujar of CHART defeated Harsh Negi of Delhi in a three setter match 6-3, 1-6, 6-2. Bhupender Dahiya of CHART also upset 4^th seed Jagtar Arora of Haryana in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. 3^rd seed Sarthak Suden defeated Nitin Jaipal in an easy match 6-3, 6-4.

In girls U-16 quarter finals top seed Prinkle Singh of CLTA defeated Harleen Kaur in a three setter match. Prinkle took 1^st set 6-4. In the 2^nd set Prinkle was serving for the match at 5-4 and had two match points. After that Harleen saved two match points and took the set in tie break 7-6(6). In the final set Prinkle used her experience to close the set and match by conceding only two games 6-2. Kavya Sawhney defeated Ishita Singh of Haryana in an easy match 6-2, 6-1. Rutupama and Smriti also moved into semi finals.

In boys U-16 doubles semi finals Naresh and Bhupender of CHART upset top seed Shashikant and Jagtar in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. In another semi final Nishant and Sarthak defeated Himanshu and Kanishk 7-5, 6-3.

In girls U-16 doubles semi finals top seed Prinkle and Kavya defeated Srishti Dhir and Ishita in straight sets 6-2, 6-1. In the 2^nd semi final Rutupama and Harleen defeated Damini and Smriti in an easy match 6-1, 6-2.

Semi final matches will be played from 9:00 a.m. onwards at CLTA Tennis Stadium.
