CLTA Trainee Pranav Suri defeated South African Francois Kellerman in a marathon close to four hours match in three sets. After trailing 2-5 in the first set Pranav fought hard to make it 5-5 before losing the set 5-7. Pranav maintained his cool and won the next two sets 7-6, 7-6. It was high standard tennis as both players were hitting good quality ground strokes with an average of 12 rallies in each point. Third seed Rishabh Aggarwal faced some resistance from lower ranked Taipei player Wei De Lin, Rishabh won in three sets. Another qualifier Indian Gagan Sharma defeated a higher ranked Indonesian player in three sets 5-7,6-2,6-1.
In Girls Indian Vasanti Shinde(Ind) defeated Taipei’s Yuchia Chen in straight sets 6-2,6-2. Qualifier Nandini Sharma lost to seed 3 Cheng Ya Ting Chang 1-6, 3-6. Anastasia Prokopenko of Ukraine defeated wild card qualifier Isha Budwal 6-2,7-5. The Pre quarter final matches of singles and quarter finals of doubles will be held at CLTA Complex starting 10 AM tomorrow.
