Sunil, Tarranum win Titles

The Finals of Men’s and Women’s Singles and Doubles were played in CLTA today. A former CHART trainee and National Champion Sunil Kumar Sipaeya showed his class. After losing the 1st set 4-6 and down in the 2nd by 2-4 he raised his level to win 2nd set 6-4 and in the final set he had a comanding lead of five games to one but 2nd seed Yogesh Phogat rallied back to win next game and after many game points Sunil managed to close out the final set 6-2.

Top seed Tarranum Handa won the Singles title against Natallia Khaniejo. Tarranum won the 1st set 6-3 and she was leading 3-0 when Natallia developed some injury and conceded the match. Tarranum also won the doubles title partenering Manya Nagpal. They defeated Victoria Chehal and Priyanka Rawat in straight sets. However, Men’s doubles final set went to super-tie-break. Yogesh Phogat of HSIIDC partnering Suraj Beniwal defeated Suraj Desai and Allan Gomes of Gujrat.

It was a very good tournament with Sunil Kumar Sipaeya coming back to his home ground and winning the title.
