V.M. Ranjeet, Dalwinder, Vijay move into Quarter Finals

CLTA, Chandigarh, Wednesday, the 30^th November, 2016              Top seed Dalwinder Singh defeated Sivadeep Kosaraju in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. 3^rd seed Suraj Prabodh defeated Saurav Sukul in a close contested marathon match approximately three hours forty minutes. Suraj won 6-4 1^st set. In the 2^nd set Saurav Sukul came back strongly and took the 2^nd set in tie break 7-6(5). In the deciding set both players played in top form. Finally Suraj took the set and match 7-5. 2^nd seed V.M. Ranjeet defeated Jaideep Chudasama in an easy match 6-1, 6-2. Vijay Kannan defeated Yugal Bansal in a three setter match. Vijay Kannan lost 1^st set 4-6. In the 2^nd set Vijay Kannan used his variation of his backhand slice to close the 2^nd set without conceding a game 6-0. In the final set both players held their serve and made it 4-4. In 9^th game, Vijay Kannan broke Yugal Bansal’s serve and Vijay serving for the match. Finally Vijay took the third set and match 7-5. Param Pun, Jatin Dahiya, Tejas Chaukulkar and Shahbaaz Khan also moved into quarters.

In the women’s singles pre quarters top seed Riya Bhatia defeated Jitasa Shastri in an easy match without conceding a game 6-0, 6-0. 2^nd seed Sai Smhitha defeated Vasavi Ganesan in straight sets 6-2, 6-3. Sara Yadav, Aarushi Kakkar, Seerat Pannu, Himani Mor, Nidhi Chilumula, Kavya Sawhney, Sai Samhitha also move intoquarters.

In men’s doubles top seed Vilasier Khate and Ranjeet Singh of CLTA defeated Krishna Teja and Ajay Pruthvi in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. Other men’s and women’s doubles matches are under progress.

Men’s and women’s singles quarter final matches will start at 10:30 a.m. at Chandigarh Club.
