V.M. Ranjeet, Riya in Singles Finals

CLTA, Chandigarh, Friday, the 2^nd December, 2016              In the men’s singles semi finals 2^nd seed VM Ranjeet defeated 3^rd seed Suraj Prabodh in straight sets. In the 1^st game of 1^st set Suraj broke VM Ranjeet’s serve and lead 2-0. After that Ranjeet took next two games and made it 2-2. Then both players held their serve and leveled 6-6. In the tie break Davis Cupper VM Ranjeet used his experience and closed the set 7-1 in the tie break. In the 2^nd set VM Ranjeet consistently played attacking game and closed the set and match 6-2.

4^th seed Vijay Kannan got walkover against top seed Dalwinder Singh. VM Ranjeet will face Vijay Kannan in the men’s singles final tomorrow.

In the women’s singles semis top seed Riya Bhatia blanked Aarushi Kakkar without conceding a game 6-0, 6-0. In another semi final 3^rd seed Nidhi Chilumula upset 2^nd seed Sai Samhitha in a three setter match. In the 1^st set Nidhi lost 0-6. Then Nidhi came back strongly and played high quality tennis to win both 2^nd and final sets 6-2, 6-1.

Sai Samhita, Amrita, Armaan, Ishaque clintch Doubles Title

            In the women’s doubles final 2^nd seed Sai Samhitha Chamarthi and Amrita Mukherjee upset top seed Nidhi Chilumula and Moulika Ram in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.

In the men’s doubles final Armaan Bhatia and Ishaque Eqbal defeated Param Pun and Hardeep Sandhu in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.

Men’s singles final will be played tomorrow from 10:15 a.m. onwards followed by women’s singles final at Chandigarh Club.
